1. Authorship and credentials
All substantive legal content on unimarkslegal.com is written or directly supervised by enrolled advocates on the rolls of the Bar Council of Tamil Nadu and Puducherry. The primary author and Editor-in-Charge is Mr. Suresh Kumar, Managing Attorney, who has over 15 years of practice in intellectual property law, trademark prosecution, commercial litigation and MSME advisory.
Content drafted by paralegals, law clerks, interns or guest contributors is published only after review and sign-off by an enrolled advocate. Guest contributions that were accepted are clearly labelled with the contributor’s name, role and professional credentials.
2. Legal accuracy review
Every piece of legal content passes through a two-tier review before publication:
- Drafter’s self-check — the drafter verifies every statutory reference, rule number and citation against the current, officially published version of the Act, Rules or Regulations.
- Managing Attorney sign-off — Mr. Suresh Kumar personally reviews each post for legal accuracy, completeness and practical application in the Indian context before it goes live.
Where an article addresses an unsettled area of law, conflicting precedents, or recent amendments, the position is expressly flagged and the article notes the reasonable contrary view.
3. Citation standards
We rely on primary sources and authoritative secondary sources. Acts of Parliament and State legislatures are cited with short title, year and relevant section number. Rules and notifications are cited with their official title, date and gazette reference where available. Judgments of the Supreme Court of India and the High Courts are cited in standard neutral or reported form (e.g., 2023 INSC 142, AIR 2020 SC 1234, (2019) 7 SCC 235).
Where a proposition rests on a specific paragraph of a judgment, the paragraph number is cited. Blog posts, unofficial summaries and AI-generated content are never used as primary sources.
4. Update cadence and corrections
Indian IP, commercial and allied laws evolve continuously through amendments, subordinate legislation, office orders of the Trade Marks Registry and landmark judgments. We address this as follows:
- All evergreen legal guides are reviewed for currency at least once every twelve months, and re-reviewed on the occurrence of any material legislative or judicial development.
- Readers may report suspected errors or out-of-date references at any time through the Contact page. Reports are acknowledged within three business days and substantive corrections are implemented within seven business days of verification.
- Material corrections carry a dated erratum note at the top of the article; silent edits are limited to typographical and formatting fixes.
5. Editorial independence
Unimarks Legal Solutions does not accept paid editorial placements, sponsored posts, link-insertion fees, or any form of consideration that would influence the content or conclusions of an article. Advocacy of a client’s position, where relevant, is done only through named case write-ups with the client’s express written consent, and is clearly identified as such.
Commercial relationships, bar memberships and professional affiliations (including the International Trademark Association) are disclosed on the About page. Where an article discusses a matter in which the firm has a direct interest, that interest is disclosed at the top of the piece.
6. Client confidentiality
No information concerning a current or former client is published without the client’s prior written consent. Where precedents, strategies or outcomes are discussed for educational purposes, identifying details — party names, brand names, financial figures and sector-specific facts — are anonymised or altered so that the client and matter cannot be identified. Judgments and orders in the public record are cited only after they have been officially pronounced and published.
